B2B Auto Industry Custom eCommerce UX/UI Design
OverviewAs part of a larger project I had the opportunity to update and upgrade an auto parts dealer’s B2B portal.

Use modern design conventions to create an enjoyable browsing experience

Research and Discovery AreasWhen creating this site we had to think of the unique ways in which purchasers would be finding and buying products. To visualise this help us to work out where users may possibly be falling off, I created user flows for both the average journey and more complex purchases. These were then used to map out the path we wanted users to take and how we could best achieve this.
Highlights
HomepageFor this homepage I had to take a different approach than a standard ecommerce site due to the clientele who vastly used search for product finding compared to other methods. I designed the navigation to have an expansive search bar along with multiple other product finding methods right at the top of the page. The rest of the homepage is then devoted to news and promotions which are relevant to the user with product carousels coming lower.
This inversion of a standard homepage is aimed to act as a hub which users can jump into to search and reduce distractions from elsewhere on the page.
PLP / SERPAnother key aspect of the site was its listing pages. We needed these to minimise friction as the user went through the site, comparing multiple products and building up large purchase orders. I designed the pages to give users a way of adding products without an extra step and created products with a large amount of information provided in a clean, digestible way.
PDPThere was some challenge creating a PDP which was a balance between common practices and the amount of features needed by the client. The final design achieves this well providing the added functionality such as a compatibility checker and warehouse selection, while still keeping the page easy to use and creating a structured hierarchy of information throughout.
SummaryAlthough this project is still under development the creation of the new B2B tool aims to improve order efficiency and empower users through a simple to use process.
